Overview

  • Structured 3D illumination microscope that generates 2x resolution enhancement in XYZ
  • Eight-fold improvement in volume resolution compared to classical microscopes
  • TIRF mode (non-SIM) available with ring illumination for even excitation across the image

NOTE: This instrument is kept OFF to preserve its lifetime. It requires calibration before use. Please coordinate with Jeffrey Kuhn and give me at least TWO DAYS NOTICE prior to your experiments.

Specifications

  • Inverted microscope with XYZ nano-motion stage with 18 mm of XY travel. NOTE: Stage travel is limited to an 20 x 29 mm area
  • 3 Dimensional Structured Illumination Microscopy (3D-SIM) Imaging
    • X, Y resolution between 80-120 nm
    • Z resolution between 250-350 nm (depending on wavelength)
    • >10 micron depth imaging (depending on spherical correction)
    • Streaming acquisition of 15 SIM images per slice
  • Simultaneous imaging on three (3) EM-CCD cameras
  • Range of index-matching immersion oils for spherical aberration correction
  • Widefield illumination for fast conventional / live cell imaging
  • Ring-TIRF illumination mode
  • SoftWorx software for image acquisition and SIM reconstruction
